¼ c. butter
1 T. yeast
3 T. sugar
½ t. salt
2 ¾ c. to 3 c. flour
1 egg
½ c. sugar
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. maple flavor
FROSTING:_____________________________________________________
1 c. powdered sugar
2 T. butter, melted
½ t. flavoring
1-2 T. milk or water
In sm. Saucepan, heat milk & butter till very warm. In large mixer bowl, blend warm liquid, l c. of the flour, sugar, salt, yeast, maple flavor, & egg at low speed until moistened. Beat 2 min. Stir in remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead 2 min. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up. Cover; let rise until light & doubled in size. 45-60 min.
In sm. Bowl, combine ½ c. sugar, nuts, cinnamon, & maple flavor; set aside. Grease (not oil) a 12” pizza pan. Punch down dough. Divide & shape into 3 balls. On floured surface, roll 1 ball of dough to cover bottom of prepared pizza pan. Brush dough with 1/3 of the (1/4) c. melted butter; sprinkle with 1/3 of the cinnamon-nut mixture. Repeat layers of dough, melted butter & cinnamon-nut mixture. To shape, place a glass about 2” deep in diameter in center of dough. With scissors, cut from outside edge to the glass forming 16 pieces. Twist each wedge 5 times. Remove glass. Cover; let rise until double in size (30-45 min.) Bake at 375 for 18-22 min. or until golden brown. Cool 5 min. Remove from pan. Drizzle frosting over top.
