ENGLISH TOFFEE

1 c. sugar
1 c. real butter
3 T. water

1 bag milk chocolate chips
¾ c. chopped pecans

Lightly butter sides of a heavy pan. Mix sugar, water, & butter. Bring to a boil. Cover with lid for 3 min. Take off lid & DO NOT STIR AFTER REMOVING LID. Cook until it is the color of peanut butter (about 300 degrees).

While syrup is cooking, sprinkle half of nuts & half of chocolate chips in the bottom of a greased cookie sheet. Pour syrup over top of nuts & chocolate. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips & nuts on top. Let them melt & smooth them out. Cool & refrigerate till set. Break into pieces.
