OATMEAL CAKE

Combine & let stand 20 min.:
1 ¼ c. boiling water
1 c. quick oatmeal

Cream together:
½ c. soft butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs

Mix creamed mixture together with oatmeal mixture.

Sift together and add to oatmeal mixture:
1 ½ c. plus 2 T. flour
½ t. salt
½ t. baking powder

1 t. soda
½ t. cinnamon
½ c. nuts

Bake in a 13 x 9” pan at 350 for 35 min.

Topping:
1 sq. butter or margarine, melted
1 c. brown sugar
½ c. canned milk

1 t. vanilla
1 c. coconut
1 c. nuts

Mix together and spread on warm cake (as soon as cake comes out of oven). Put in oven under broiler until golden brown.
