1/2 c. sugar
½ c. butter or margarine
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. molasses
2 ½ c. flour
1 c. very hot water
bananas
½ t. salt
1 ½ t. baking soda
1 t. ginger
1 t. cinnamon
½ t. powdered cloves
whipped cream
Cream sugar & butter well. Add eggs & molasses. Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Add hot water & beat till smooth (batter will be very thin). Pour into well greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake at 350 for about 40 min. or until cake tests done. Serve warm or cold with sliced bananas & whipped cream.
