FRENCH VANILLA ICE CREAM

½ c. sugar
¼ t. salt
1 c. milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 T. vanilla
2 c. whipping cream – chilled

Mix sugar, salt, milk, & egg yolks in saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until bubbles appear around edge of mixture in pan. Cool to room temp. Stir in vanilla & cream. Refrigerate until ready to use in ice cream freezer.

Yield: 1 qt.
